No doubt there are some very interesting stories and facts regarding Polonia in Edmonton's soccer. But unfortunately, factual information regarding Polonia prior to 2005 is very tough to attain and we are not in the business of posting hearsay information on this website. The launching of this very website will help to keep detailed and very accurate information regarding Polonia Sports Club from this time on for future generations to see.
Sunday June 7, 2009 Polonia Sports Club held its very first Coaches Cup tournament and picnic at Rundle Park. The weather ended up being alright considering, the player turn out was awesome, and the soccer was fun.
Congrats to the winning team and our first ever Coaches Cup winners "Team Steadward". It just goes to show you that if they can win it, anyone can. LOL. All joking aside good work and enjoy the bragging rights. All indications are that the Coaches Cup was a big hit and you may have to defend that title sooner than later!

The Polonia Cup was first started in 2003 and is a 5 versus 5 outdoor soccer tournament Polonia Sports Club hosts at the end of each Outdoor Soccer Season. Our tournament has grown by leaps and bounds. The amount of teams and players competing in the Polonia Cup has grown each and every year. We are proud to boast that 18 teams competed in our last Polonia Cup held in 2006.
We feel the tournament is a great way for us to wrap up the Outdoor Soccer Season each year. It gives everyone involved a chance to unwind and have some fun to end the summer. Every year we feel that the tournament improves and we are looking forward to the festivities that should be the 2007 Polonia Cup. If you would like to see photos from past Polonia Cups please feel free to visit our Gallery. There you can find photos from each year of the tournaments.

Unfortunately the tournament is officially over for our Poland Men’s side. To be completely honest we are very disappointed with the way we played. For one reason or another we just never seemed to ever really get going at all, and we most certainly did not even play to even half of our potential. But with that being said we are not going to look for any excuses, we just were not good enough. Hopefully we learned a few lessons along the way which will make us a better team in the long run. On behalf of the team and Polonia Sports Club we would like to first thank our very generous sponsors who helped finance the tournament. We would also like to really thank the fans who came out and supported us game after game. We just wish we could have given you more to cheer about. Only one thing is for certain “Jeszcze Polska nie zginela” and we will be back stronger and better next time around. That you can count on!

Overall I think that we would have to consider the 2007 Mini World Cup Tournament a success. Even though we were disappointed that our teams did not get further along in the tournament, we took yet another step in the right direction with 2 very young teams. We look forward to the next tournament, and feel we should be even more competitive at that time.
Team Poland - Men’s
This was the first time in a long time that we were able to make it out of our group in the number 1 seed and not in the number 2 seed. Once out of our group we ran into a very good Serbian team and had a great battle with them. We came out on the short end of a 3-1 decision, and that very same Serbian team eventually went on to win the tournament.
Team Croatia - Women's
A little confused? Maybe a typo? Our club was involved with the Croatia entry in this Mini World Cup. In fact the entire coaching staff and probably 75 or 80 percent of the Croatian Roster were girls on our Polonia Women's team. There was a team Poland entry in the Mini World Cup but our club had zero involvement with that team for reasons we would rather not disclose. In regards to how our girls and the Croatia team faired, to be honest it was a learning experience. For most of our girls it was their first Mini World Cup and now they will now what to expect next time. The level of play for this tournament is very high and to be honest we were a little outmatched at times. None the less, our girls put in a heroic effort and made us all proud!

This was perhaps the most successful MWC tournament for Team Poland yet. Poland was one of very few nations to have a team entered in all categories of the tournament. And finally after a long wait they will once again be writing Team Poland on the Mini World Cup trophy.
Team Poland - Men’s
This was the youngest team we have entered into the tournament, and it would not be a stretch to say that this may have been the youngest team ever entered in the Mini World Cup Tournament. So it goes without saying that we gained some much needed experience and that the 2007 tournament will be interesting and we expect a good showing then from our boys.
Team Poland - Women’s
Our Women’s Team was a powerhouse. Winning the tournament in style with a huge 6 to nothing win in the Finals. In 1986 our Men’s Team won this tournament and now finally Team Poland is going to be written on the trophy again.
