Polonia Growing to 4 Teams!

We have been talking about it for some time and now that the Outdoor Season is complete we can finally officially confirm that we will be adding a Polonia Women's Reserve Team for the upcoming 2010/2011 Indoor Season.

Here are some of the details that we have worked out so far.
- We have acquired a Division 1 spot. So our Women's First Team will be in Premier and this new Reserve Team will be in Division 1 for the upcoming Indoor Season.
- Since we know the team will be in Division 1 we can confirm that games will be on Monday nights.
- We are currently searching for the right person to coach this team, if you are interested please let us know.
- Paul Szczepanski will likely be the manager of this team.
- Just as with any Polonia Team we expect players to commit at least 2 nights a week to this new team. One night for games (Monday) and another night for practices (TBA).

Travis Sommerville	The fastest backwards runner in our entire club.
Lukasz Ziomko	Current Polonia Sports Ping Pong Champion. However it has been some time since he has defended his crown and there are a few contenders.
Loren "BuZZ" Rolheiser	Takes Halloween very seriously. It's his favorite holiday and if you need any proof, just stop by his place on Halloween night. It's nicely done up.
Ryan Murnaghan	Worst male driver in our entire club. Catch a ride with him at your own risk.
Ryan Murnaghan	Worst wheels. GMC Safari Van. Need more? Okay it has a back up alarm.
Mike Iachetta	Biggest Big Brother fan. Watching the on line feed takes you to another level.

Now that all 3 teams have wrapped up their seasons we have an opportunity to take a well deserved little break, heal up some wounds, and plan out a shaker of a Polonia year end party!

Another thing we can do now that the season is over is figure out our Club Honors for each team. So here they are.

Probably one of the most challenging, trying, and frustrating seasons any Polonia team has ever had. With that being said the team is really looking forward to making some changes and coming back strong for Indoor.

Polonia Men's Reserve Team

Another League title after a really solid season, only let down was in play downs were we kind of shot ourselves in the foot so to speak. But none the less a league title and Promotion into 1st Division equals a hell of a season.

Polonia Women's Team

A very strong 3rd place finish in Division 1 for our Polonia Women's Team. Nothing wrong with that. With a few games left we even played ourselves into an opportunity to be one of those top 2 teams but just came up short on an all important late game in the season. Just like our Reserves... a hell of a season.

Damien Pettie

#1 Keeper - Polonia Men's First Team

I don't know what can be written down in this little spot that will do credit to what Damien did for his friends, team, and club. Here is a guy that needs surgery on his back. It's a serious injury that he has been dealing with for some time and it’s most likely that he will need surgery to fix this ongoing, painful, and nagging issue. That right there is as legit an excuse as you could possibly have for sitting out.

In our last game against Karpaty this year with injuries, work, suspensions, holidays, and every thing else if you can believe it we were going to have to play a man short. Playing short sucks, but it sucks even worse when you add the fact that if we could just somehow manage to come up with a win we would still have a slight chance to stay in Premier. So the game was as important as it gets.

Back to Damien, as soon as he heard just how bad a spot the team was in he decided that there was no way he was going to let his boys play short. He laced them up and put it on the line. There were a few times he looked like he was going to pass out from the pain and we could all tell he was in major discomfort, but he battled thru. The soccer gods took note and kept the rain and lighting away for long enough for us to come up with a massive 5 to 4 win. We had to leave in a hurry after the game, but on behalf of the entire team we want to thank you Damien. Even Ben was impressed!

Volunteers and Helpers

A special thanks to the people that having been helping out the club lately.

First off, a huge thank you to all the people that worked the 2 Eskimos games. Those funds we raised will really help to offset the sky rocketing costs for Indoor.

Also we would like to thank everyone who helped out with Coaches Cup. Cheddar, Cody, Jenn, Candace, and Smashely deserve a lot of the credit for putting in their time and efforts. All indications are that everyone had a good time and that we should do one more in a few weeks to wrap up the Outdoor Season.

In this section we will post some very interesting facts you may not know.

1	The number of Mini World Cups won by the Team Poland Men's Team. The win came in 1986 with the tournament MVP going to none other than Team Polands own Zbignew Karaszewski.
1	The number of players in our club that have been struck by a car traveling at a high rate of speed. The player... Ryan Murnaghan or Skates is you like. I bet that explains a lot if you know Ryan and did not know the fact.
1	The number of times a Polonia player has called a coach from the backseat of a police car to tell him he would miss practice. True Story! Ryan Medeiros even handed the phone to the Police Officer for verification. Now that is a legit excuse to miss practice!
2	The number of times that Super Ziomko has won the Polonia Christmas Ping Pong Classic. (This record has yet to be beaten)
3	The number of water bottles Mike Lewis broke at the beginning of the 08 Indoor Season. (Like 8 games is!) It is no coincidence that the club stopped providing water bottles for the players shortly there after. So next time your thirsty at a Polonia game you can thank Mikey that there will NOT be ice cold water bottles available to quench your thirst.
3	The number of players currently not playing because of knee injuries. (Dan Martin, Holly Schelpe, Mike Lewis)
5	The number of dollars it took to bride Justin Kumar to pull down his pants, run across the road, and climb the Waddy Statue. We have pictures for non believers.
9	The number worn by Zbignew Karaszewski. Hands down the best player that has ever or will ever wear a Polonia jersey. The guy was a stud, played a bunch of pro, then played brickmen when he came down here. If you talk to any of the older guys they will tell you he was something special.
9	The number of times Holly Schelpe has been to a Backstreet Boys Concert.
11	On a scale of 1 to 10. If you had to judge just how cool of a guy Wojtek Asenhaymer is he would come up with an 11. Just an all around awesome guy, and even still at his age he is a hell of a Keeper. You may not be able to find a more handsome, outgoing, and just plain nice older dude!
15	The number of Outdoor Seasons Allan Zurawicz has played with Polonia. This is a record that just may never be broken.
72	Eric most certainly has the hardest shot in our club. A few years back at a Polonia Cup Eric's shot was clocked at 72 mph, that was with his good foot, his bad foot you ask? Still higher than anyone else in our club at 70 mph. Answers the question why the coaches want Bara to shoot more.
110	The number of pounds that Reserve Team Striker Fabio Tagliamonte weighs.
380	The maximum amount that Ben Cowan can Bench Press a single time. Warning this number has not been verified.
